How to wear a male Hanfu Dao - Pao

Male Hanfu has many types. Among them is the Dao - Pao, which is also very popular with Hanfu fans in recent years.

Here is a tutorial on how to wear a male Hanfu Dao Pao:

I'm going to talk about it in the simplest and most understandable way.

First, put on an inner garment of white or light color - usually a long-sleeved, cross-collared shirt - style piece. Adjust the collar and smooth the sleeves.

Place the Dao-Pao over the undergarment. A long loose robe with straight sleeves and a straight front is called the Dao - Pao. Most often, it has a hidden placket. Put it on from the head and let it hang naturally.

The collar and sleeves should be adjusted so that the Dao-Pao lies flat and neatly. The collar is generally narrow and sits up. Then straighten the sleeves to hang evenly. The Dao - Pao sleeves are wide and long, often reaching to the fingertips.

Attach the sash: tie the sash around the waist. This is a sash made of silk or another soft fabric. A simple knot or bow on the front or side of the waist will gather the robe and make it look more fitted. That also highlights the wearer and makes the look more elegant.

Accessories are optional as well. You may for example wear a square - top hat or a soft cap in the style of the Dao - Pao. Usually shoes are cloth - soled, either black or blue. You may also wear jade pendants or other ornaments on the sash.

Check that the Dao - Pao is hanging evenly and that all the details are arranged properly after wearing. You'll look neat and elegant in Hanfu this way.
