The Song Dynasty (960 AD–1279 AD) was a period of unparalleled prosperity in culture and economy in Chinese history. Influenced by Zhu Xi's Neo-Confucianism, the Song Dynasty clothing developed a unique style characterized by simplicity and elegance. Women in the Song Dynasty often wore long robes with straight collars and narrow sleeves, beizi (a type of outer garment), aoqun, and Ruqun sets. The ruqun set consisted of a short upper garment (ru) paired with a long skirt. Accessories like silk scarves added a touch of refinement.
